Stenje

The village of Stenje is located on the western shore of Lake Prespa, at the foot of Mount Galicica, on the border with the Republic of Albania.

The inhabitants themselves believe that their village got its name from the walls that overlooked it at its original location.

A few kilometers from Stenje, in the rocks three meters high, guests can see the fresco of St. Petka. The villagers say that the fresco has been there since they can remember, and according to legends, it was erected by a fisherman who survived the storm. He saw a light and managed to get to where it was coming from. In that place he placed an icon of the saint who saved him. Stenje is a natural and cultural treasure of Prespa with a large number of churches and archeological sites.
