Podmocani

Podmocani is located in the eastern part of the territory of the Municipality of Resen, on the road that leads from Resen to Ljubojno, and whose area rises to the ridge of Mount Pelister, where it touches the area of the municipality of Capari. The name of the village comes from the composition "under the swamp", which means a place located under a swamp (piss).

The village of Podmocani was first mentioned in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Thus, when the church of St. Gjorgji was built in 1818, the village had about 12 families. In Angel Dimov's book from the data published until 1912, it is written that it was one of the largest villages in the region - because of that, the inhabitants suffered the most during the Ilinden Uprising in 1903. It is said that all 101 houses and the school in the village were set on fire, and many residents lost their lives.

The private Ethnological Museum also operates in the village, with one of the largest private collections of artifacts and folk costumes in the country.
