Resen ceramic colony
The ceramic colony is a true representation of how centuries-old traditions can gain modern momentum and international recognition. Archaeological excavations show that the roots of pottery in the region are somewhere in prehistory, present in all later periods: antiquity, Byzantine, post-Byzantine period. Today, although the craft is still practiced by only a handful of masters, the Ceramic Colony introduced it in the 21st century as a form of artistic expression. Thus, from the beginning of 1973 until today, the Colony has grown into an internationally recognized institution, a member of the UNESCO Ceramic Academy. The colony's studio has so far created 238 ceramics from around the world, creating a fund of over 1,000 exhibits, 400 of which are on display at the House of Culture.
The studio in Otesevo, which hosts prominent artists from all over the world during the colony, is open to other guests throughout the year.
