Saraj

From the urban architecture of Resen, with its architectural aesthetic values, the building Saraj - a cultural monument in the Republic of Macedonia stands out. It was built at the beginning of the 20th century during the Young Turk Revolution. Built by Turkish Major Ahmed Niyazi-Beg in the early twentieth century, following the example of modern French architectural achievements, the Saraj depicts an influx of modern ideas that occupy the Ottoman Empire and Resen as part of it. The dream of the Young Turks to create a modern state begins exactly in Macedonia, and Saraj is a monument to that movement. The Saraj is a beautiful palace which is built by using expensive building materials, with a playful facade and large windows that fill the interior with light. Parterno, the courtyard of Saraj is well arranged and announces the refinement of the interior of the building. The Saraj building houses the Dragi Tozija House of Culture and the Ceramic Colony. The commemorative installation of the painter Keraca Visulcheva is also located in the premises of Saraj and enriches the cultural and aesthetic image of the building. Contact: 047/551 021
