Holy Mother of God – Jankovec
The village is home to the Monastery of the Holy Mother of God, with its main church of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God, the monastery lodgings and the Church of St Ignatius the God-Bearer, which is thought to have been built before the 18th century.
Jankovec has three churches and one monastery. The Church of St Atanas, in the village, has no recorded date of construction, but it is thought to be older than the monastery church of the Holy Mother of God. The Church of St Nicholas lies about 1 km east of the village. The Church of St John, also in the village, was consecrated in 1866.
Some houses in the village are protected by the state for their age and beauty, such as those of Vanču Ikonomovski and the Tegovci family. If you pass through Jankovec, ask the locals to show them to you.
