Church of the Holy Saviour – Evla

The Church of the Holy Saviour (Sv. Spas) is the main church of the monastery of the same name. It is a six-kilometre journey from the village, reachable only on foot or by off-road vehicle.

It is the only cave church in the Diocese of Prespa and Pelagonia. The original site of the church was further from the village, at a place now called Stara Spasa (Old Spasa).

To collect healing water from the spring beneath the mountain, visitors have to approach the cave lying down.

The feast of the Holy Saviour falls on a different date each year. People come for it from all over Prespa, and from villages in the neighbouring Ohrid region, some of them on foot to this beautiful monastery.
