Dolno Dupeni

The village of Dolno Dupeni is located in the extreme southern part of the Municipality of Resen, whose area reaches the state border line with Greece and the eastern shore of Lake Prespa. Not far from the village, 2 km is the locality Markova Noga which is the southernmost point in the Republic of Macedonia and where the famous beach Dupeni Beach is located. The tower of the border watchtower is located nearby, but there is no possibility to cross the border due to the closure of the opposite Greek side for political reasons.

The name of the village "Dupeni" is obtained by toponymizing the ethnonym in the plural 'dupjani', people who come from the place dupa, meaning hollow place, hole. This assumption can be confirmed by the location of the village itself, which is located in a small depression, a hole between the foot of Mount Baba and the plain at the bottom of the Prespa Valley.
