Sts Peter and Paul – Ljubojno
The church dedicated to Christ's first apostles, St Peter and St Paul, is an unusual piece of architecture. The complex, with the church, a fountain and a bell tower, stands on a small plateau in the wooded part of the mountain above the village of Ljubojno. From the village it is about a 30-minute walk along a forest dirt road. The site is busiest on the feast of Sts Peter and Paul, when local people are joined by believers from across the wider Prespa region and by many emigrants from the diaspora.
According to the inscription in the medallion on its west façade, the church was completed in 1923. The west, south and north façades are decorated in the architectural style of the period between the two world wars.
Just south of the church is the fountain, which according to its inscription was built at the same time as the church. On the north side, at the entrance to the complex, rises the bell tower. Its wooden stairs lead up to a beautiful view of Ljubojno and Lake Prespa.
